Frequently Asked Questions
I want to actually fight – can you help me get started?
Yes, we can. Vision trains many fighters, both professional and amateur. We can coach you through the steps of getting started. Know that this process takes commitment and looks different for everyone.
I am an experienced fighter – is this the right place for me?
Yes! Multiple professional MMA fighters train out of Vision. You will have other advanced fighters to practice with.
The instructors teach to multiple skill levels in their classes by breaking down each movement and adding optional advanced techniques.
We hold each other to high standards at our gym. If you’re willing to put in the work, we will help you get to the next level.
Can I train here without fighting competitively?
Yes! We have many members who train without wanting to fight outside of the gym.
I’ve never done martial arts before – is this the right place for me?
Yes! The instructors do a great job of teaching to multiple skill levels in their classes by starting with a basic movement and then building more advanced techniques on top of it.
Just show that you’re willing to work, and advanced folks will be happy to work with you. We’re all here to grow, from whatever skill level we are at.
Am I going to get hurt?
Getting hurt is possible with any activity. MMA, Jiu Jitsu, and Boxing are combat sports. We expect every class member to treat their training partners with respect, and that includes avoiding excessive carnage. Our instructors strive to teach appropriate techniques to prevent injury in every class.
What should I wear?
Wear clothing that stays in place as you move and that you are comfortable sweating in. Compressive undergarments are a good idea for men and women, especially for the Jiu Jitsu and MMA classes. A cup is also recommended for men.
For Jiu Jitsu, MMA, and Striking, please avoid clothing with pockets and hard pieces or metal fasteners such as zippers as these could harm you or your classmates. You should also wear a mouth guard.
There are no shoes on the mats! So you may want to bring shoes you can easily slip on to go to the bathroom or fill you water bottle.
What gear do I need to bring?
Bring 16 oz. Kickboxing or Muay Thai gloves to the Striking class, and 7 oz. MMA sparring gloves to the MMA class. For Kombat Fitness, bring boxing gloves. You should also bring shin guards to the Striking and MMA classes.
To participate in a Gi class, you must have a Jiu Jitsu Gi and belt.
If you don’t have gear, then don’t worry! We have extra for you to borrow for free your first time.
Do you have showers?
Yes, we have one private, locking shower available with a changing area. We also have several changing rooms and bathrooms available.
